Thomas G. "Jerry" Britton, 73, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Elkhart Hospice House. He was born May 7, 1942 in Mishawaka to Carl and Minnie (Little) Britton.
On October 3, 1964 he married the late Barbara Ann (Howland) Britton.
Survivors include 1 son, Tom (Deb) Britton of Elkhart; 2 daughters, Chris (Slimane) Khaoucha of Goshen and Stephanie (Dwayne) Fahrenkrog of Elkhart; 1 brother, Fred (Jeanne) Britton of Niles; 3 sisters, Dorothy Kissel of Elkhart, Elvira (Marvin) Wilsey of Elkhart and Patty (Al) Kukla of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Cori (CJ) Owens of Elkhart, Abbi Britton of Bristol, Omar, Ibrahim and Aisa Khaoucha of Goshen, Ian and Britton Fahrenkrog, both of Elkhart; great-grandchild, Mason Owens, due in November of 2015.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Hope Marie Fahrenkrog.
Jerry proudly served in the US Air Force from 1963 until 1967.
He was employed with Don's Printing for 27 years, the Elkhart Fire Department for 15 years, Elkhart Public Library and Westside Middle School prior to his retirement.
Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 143, Fraternal Order of Eagles and a lifetime member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge 599 and DAV 19.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 17th from 5:30 to 8:30 PM at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart and 1 hour prior to the 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, September 18th at Billings Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held in Rice Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation, DAV 19 or the American Legion Post 143 in memory of Jerry.
