ELKHART — Thomas L. Funderburg, 65, residing in Elkhart, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 4, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 7, 1945, in Billings, Mont., to the late Bill and Connie (Platz) Winters.

Surviving are two brothers, Chris Winters of Elkhart and Ron (Robin) Funderburg of Gilbert, Ariz., and sister Debbie (Don) Slonaker of Woodbridge, Va.

Thomas worked in telecommunications and was a well-known DJ on a radio station in Phoenix, know as T-Bird. He was a graduate of University of Southern California and a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1968. Thomas enjoyed electronics, computers and Facebook.

His wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at the Veterans Towers, located in the Veterans Section at Prairie Street Cemetery. The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard will render military honors. Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.
