ELKHART -- Thomas Burak of Elkhart passed away at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at 9:47 a.m. of natural causes. He was 84.

He was born in Buchach, Ukraine, on June 15, 1926, to Jacob and Maria (Chaykovska) Burak. He married Tatiana Below in Germany in 1949. She passed away in Elkhart in 2005.

Surviving are three daughters, Aksana (Joseph) Cataldo and Oli (Leonard) Konkle, both of Elkhart, and Lili (Max) Holmes of White Pigeon, Mich.; a brother, Peter Bourak of Beamsville, Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

His wife, Tatiana, and a sister, Antonina Trach, preceded Thomas in death.

He is to be buried at Prairie Street Cemetery on Friday in a private service. A memorial will then be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at 5 p.m. at the North Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1921 Jeanwood Drive, Elkhart. Elder Tim Bryant will officiate .

Memorials may be given to the North Kingdom Hall. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is handling arrangements.
