SOUTH BEND — Theresa Veronica Theis, 77, of South Bend, formerly of Elkhart, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 16, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving daughters.
Theresa was born June 29, 1939, in Sheffield, England, to Thomas and Anne (Kelly) Moran.
Her formative years were spent in her beloved Ireland.
In addition to her parents, and former husband John A. Theis, a brother Thomas Moran and two nephews, Brian Sheridan and Christopher Fabing preceded her in death.
Surviving are daughters, Elizabeth (Chuck) Hartzell of Bristol and Theresa (Mike) Serafino of Elkhart; three grandchildren, John, Liza, and Hannah; five sisters, Anne (Jim) Sheridan-Pullos, Margaret (Chuck) Fabing, Eileen Moran, Mary (Steve) Bolte, Rita Pernick; also five brothers, Michael Moran, Stephen (Judy) Moran, James Moran, Vincent Moran and Patrick Moran; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews survive as well.
Theresa worked at Oaklawn in Elkhart, followed by Marshall Field & Co.
She had attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Theresa enjoyed spending time with her large extended family and especially her grandchildren.
She also loved to go antiquing.
Theresa's family will honor and remember her beginning with visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23., at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main St,. Elkhart.
Friends may also call one hour prior to the mass at the church on Monday.
The Rev. Bob VanKempen will officiate.
Burial and graveside services will follow in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
