Theodore R. "Ted" Lese, 95, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at his residence.
Ted was born on September 25, 1925 in Elkhart to the late Joseph and Concetta (Ianigro) Lisi.
Ted was a very hard worker his entire life, and starting in 1940 he went to work on the New York Central Railroad helping to repair and lay track. At the age of 18, Ted enlisted in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific where he trained with the assault group. He served from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. After returning from active duty, he married his true love Anne M. Trovatore on May 25, 1946 in a ceremony at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Anne passed away on October 15, 2013 after 67 wonderful years of marriage.
Surviving is a son, Robert (Lois) Lese and daughter Marianne (Danny Anglemyer) Lowery; 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and his brother John Lisi
Preceding him in death is a brother Anthony Lisi, sister, Anne Marie Richardson and daughter in law Stephanie Lese.
Ted worked for many years for Mobile Craft Wood Products in Elkhart. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge #599, member of the I.A.R.A Club, U.A.W Local 5, Bent Oaks, and the Elks. Ted loved his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing and making mission rosaries.
A celebration of Ted's life will be Thursday, October 08, 2020 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, with a rosary service beginning at 6 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 09, 2020 at 11:00 am. with an hour of visitation prior from 10-11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main St. Elkhart. Rev. Jason Freiburger will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and DAV #19.
