ELKHART -- Thelma Lorene Maure Sponseller, 88, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Hubbard Hill Estates Inc. of Elkhart of natural causes.
She was born in Middlebury on Dec. 6, 1922, to the late Howard and Hazel (Page) Ulery. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Joseph Maure, who died in 1971 in Elkhart, and Charles Sponseller, who died in 2009 in Warsaw.
Surviving are a son, Ronald (Alicia) Maure, and a daughter, Sharon (Adam) Hawkins, both of Elkhart; three stepsons, Jeffery (Barbara) Sponseller and Jerome (Kay) Sponseller of Pierceton and Mark (Sue) Sponseller of Anderson; four grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, followed by services at 5 p.m. Cremation will follow. Mark Sponseller, Thelma's stepson, will officiate.
Thelma was a homemaker, but also worked several years at C.G. Conn and the Welcome Wagon, Elkhart.
