Terry Van Wormer, 68, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Esther's House in Elkhart. He was born in Elkhart on January 18, 1957, to the late Burton Van Wormer and Marleen (Leinhart) Mann.

Terry was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo Van Wormer. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sonia Van Wormer; children, Chad (Ashley) Van Wormer and Katrina (Hugo) Vargus; grandchildren, Braydon and Payton Van Wormer; and sisters, Nancy Benninghof and Sally (Wayne) Sarnie.

Cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart, IN. There will be a private family celebration of life to be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Terry was the best man, husband, father, and grandfather that ever was. He always did everything he could to take care of his family and had a selfless heart. Terry worked as a maintenance mechanic for many years and enjoyed tinkering on old cars, encouraging his children to help and learn from him.

He was a role model and wanted to be sure he taught his children and grandchildren everything he knew. When Terry was younger, he enjoyed going camping in Michigan where they would go 3 wheeling in the morning and fishing by the afternoon. With his skilled mechanic skills, he made a dune buggy for his family to drive around in Michigan. Terry will be dearly missed by his loving family.
