Terry A. Smothers, 20-day old infant son of Jamie Maurer and Kyle Smothers of Elkhart, unexpectedly passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, at home.

He is survived by his parents; siblings, Gavin Maurer and Unity Smothers; paternal grandparents, Shawn and Michelle Smothers; maternal grandmother, Mandie Schmidt; paternal great grandparents, Walter Stanley Smothers and Debbie Sloan; maternal great grandparents, James and Elanor Cavalcante; and great great grandmother, Carol Highbaugh. Terry is preceded in death by his great grandparents, Terry and Kathryn Witcher and grandfather, Eric Schmidt.

Family and friends are called to gather for a visitation from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jeremy Groff of Western United Church.  Memorial Donations may be made to the Smothers family c/o Kyle Smothers to help the family continue to provide for Terry's siblings.

Terry tiptoed into the world and although he only stayed for a moment, he left an imprint on the hearts of his loving parents, siblings, and family with his sweet smiles and gentle coos. He will be dearly missed.
