Terry Scott Butters, 61, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 24, 2025 at his home.

Terry was born in Phillipsburg, KS on August 24, 1963 to the late, Leslie L. Butters and Lois June (Harmon) Butters.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Hyacinth (Dawn) Butters and Forest and Mamie Harmon; parents; Leslie and Lois; brother, Thomas Butters and sister, Susan Butters-Wade and his companion, Bubba the cat.

Terry is survived by his wife, Peggy Rieffel of Elkhart; sister, Denise (Daniel Robert) Sweet of Oklahoma; brother, Richard Lee (Michelle Day) Butters of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Terry honorably served his country in the United States Air Force while stationed in Germany. He was a press operator at Madison Precision, Armor Metal and Reflex. Most recently, Terry worked at Meijer on Cassopolis in Elkhart.

Terry was an avid Notre Dame, Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed being out on the water fishing. Terry loved animals especially feeding the squirrels.

Terry built model cars and watched John Wayne movies in his spare time.

There will be a celebration of life service at a later date. Per the family's request, Terry will be cremated.
