ELKHART — Teresa M. Lewis, 52, of Elkhart, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born May 16, 1960, in Milan, Tenn., to James R. Barham Sr. and Willie E. (Brown) Barham.
Survivors include two daughters, Syreeta (Vernon) Howard of Elkhart and Tresnese Barham of Ahoskie, N.C.; son Rayshald (Talisha) Barham of South Bend; six sisters, Janyth Tidwell, Ellen Faye Parks and Ernestine Barham, all of Elkhart, and Geneva (Jerry) Milton, Marcie Adkisson and Laura Ann Adkisson, all of Trezevant, Tenn.; five brothers, the Rev. Dr. Coy (Geraldine) Brown, James Barham, Dwayne Barham and Terry Barham, all of Elkhart, and Casey Adkisson of Jackson, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Stephen, Nathanael and Levi Howard, all of Elkhart, Anthony Foster of South Bend, and Kaleb and Kamryn Barham, both of Elkhart; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Genetta Hope Williams; and a brother, Ernest Eugene Barham.
Teresa was previously employed with Indiana Chair Frame for several years. She was a faithful and devout member of Community Baptist Church in Cassopolis and a former member of the Minority Health Coalition, Single Sisters, Circle of Faith and served as a volunteer for the Elkhart Healthy Marriage and Family Coalition.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, funeral service at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 933 Fieldhouse Ave., Elkhart. The Rev. Dr. Coy Brown will officiate.
