She was born March 6, 1961, in Elkhart, to Paul A. and Gladys (Hibshman) Akin.

Her mother survives in Elkhart, along with one brother, Greg (Cheryl) Akin of Elkhart; and two sisters, Christine (Louis) Larson and Laura Akin, both of Elkhart.

There will be no visitation and cremation will take place. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Keith McFarren of Faith United Methodist Church of South Bend will officiate.
