IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sue Ann
Glanders
April 6, 1944 – February 11, 2023
Mrs. Sue Ann Glanders, 78, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 11, 2023 with her husband Jefferey at her side. She was born in Elkhart on April 6, 1944 to the late Jack and Wava (Miller) Kline and married her sweetheart, Jeffery H. Glanders, on May 8, 1982 in Elkhart. He survives at home after nearly 41 wonderful years together.
Along with Jeffery, Sue is survived by her sister, Sally Borem and a whole host of loving extended family, neighbors and friends. She is preceded by a brother, Michael Kline, and her dear felines including the late Rio, Snowball and Lucky.
Sue always thought of herself as an uncomplicated person, and true to her beliefs, she requested no services and a cremation at the time of her passing. However, a brief graveside service will take place on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Rice Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Fr. Benjamin Landrigan of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will officiate the service. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart is assisting the family with arrangements.
Sue worked as a telephone operator ("number please?") for General Telephone for 22 years before her retirement, but all she really strived for was to be a good homemaker and companion to her dear Jeffery. Before getting married, she enjoyed traveling to places like NYC and England, but her interests shifted a bit in later years. Jeffery would always say he converted Sue into being a devout Cubs fan, but she genuinely liked them anyway, so it didn't take much to capture her attention. She refused, however, to abandon her beloved Chicago Bears, though, as she always understood the appreciation for those tight fitting football pants.
Sue was also a huge QVC aficionado, appreciated mystery "whodunit" shows, was a lover of the feline form and was a member of St. Vincent's. In fact, She and Jeffery picked out St. Vincent's together as a place for them to worship as a couple, and they were baptized and experienced their first communion there.
