Obituary

Sue Ann Johnson, 82, residing in Elkhart, passed away Monday, evening, February 27, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family and Paisley, her cat. A native of Elkhart, Sue was born on February 17, 1941, to the late Charles R. and Marie (Wambaugh) Bartlett. Sue met and fell in love with handsome young man named Tedd R. Johnson. They were married on December 31, 1961, in Elkhart. Tedd died on December 13, 2015, after 53 wonderful years of marriage. To this union, two children were born, daughter, Heidi (Mike) Compton and her son Edward (Stacy) Johnson, both of Elkhart. Seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and two brothers, former Mayor, Richard (Nancy) Moore and Jim (Gail) Bartlett; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Sue graduated from Elkhart High School, with the class of 1959. Sue worked and was co-owner along with her husband Tedd at the family business, Johnson Marine on Simonton Lake for 30 years. Sue also worked for the Elkhart Police Department as a Parking Enforcement Officer for 18 years and a school crossing guard for several years. Sue loved all animals, especially her cats. She loved everything about the lake, from boating, to spending time with her family and lake friends. She loved to be outside, working in her yard or flower garden. Sue was a kind and beautiful soul, who is loved and will be missed.

Per her wishes, cremation was chosen. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements for Sue are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
