Mr. Steven James, age 53, passed to his rest on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in the presence of his family, at Valley View Healthcare Center. Steven was born on May 6, 1968 in Chicago to the late David Tillman Sr. and Rosezella (Walton) James. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughter Alexis Tajana James and her husband James Bryant; 3 grandchildren including, Issy Bryant and Deangelo Bryant; three brothers, Larry James, Trumale Coleman, David Tillman ; 4 sisters, Rozella Jenkins, Benita James, Carolyn James, Debra James; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, friends and relatives. He will be deeply missed.

Steven worked as a machinist at Elkhart Plastic's. His nickname was "Grumpy", but he was really a loveable guy.  He was an awesome cook and made the best "Soul Food" and BBQ Ribs. He liked to play domino's, and enjoyed card games, especially spades. Steven was like a "father" figure to many.

Private family visitation has taken place. Per his wishes, cremation was chosen, under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
