IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Douglas
Hale
September 11, 1959 – July 9, 2025
Steve D. Hale, 65, of Elkhart, spent his remaining time with cousin Tony, friend Jeff and his family by his side.
Steve was born on September 11, 1959 to the late, Edward and Shirley (Hummel) Hale in Elkhart.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Michael; sister, Frances; and cousins, Francine, Theresa and Penny; brother-in-law, Tim and niece, Dennice.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Erin and Stephanie; brothers, Ronald, Christopher, Charles; sister, Cathy; cousins, Billy, Delmar (Ronda), Michelle (Fred), Holly, and Tony; some grandchildren; best friend, May; niece; caregiver, Robin; mail lady, Kathy and too many friends to mention.
Steve grew up in Elkhart and was a long-term resident living on Heaton Lake and Simonton Lake.
Steve worked his way up the ladder at Onan (Cummins) Generator for over 20 years. In his later years, he worked part-time at Rainbow Lanes.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and boating on his custom-made zebra pontoon boat.
Steve was a talented upholsterer, took on custom painting projects and sculpted walking sticks for others.
He enjoyed riding his Harley, bowling, golfing and snowmobiling. He was an expert foosball player (inviting anyone to challenge him).
Steve also enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Christmas time for the kids and mushroom hunting and spent time with his dog, Pepper.
Steve had a charming personality, especially with the ladies and he would give the shirt off of his own back.
He lived life to the fullest and cherished spending time with family and friends.
There will be a celebration of Steve's life at a later date.
