IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Edward
Hahn
January 9, 1974 – December 29, 2023
Mr. Steven Edward "Steve" Hahn, 49, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 6:25 pm. He had been experiencing some health issues in the recent past and, despite all, Steve's family and church community are rejoicing in his homecoming to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, during this Holiest of seasons.
He was born on January 9, 1974 to the late David and Norma J. (Hartman) Hahn, and grew up on about 80 acres of farmland near Wakarusa. Steve always had a close relationship with his father (he adored his dad), and his brothers recalled memories of the two teasing and joking with each other anytime they could. He then went on to marry the love of his life, Heather Marie Blessing, on July 12, 2003 in Goshen. She survives at home after 24 wonderful years together.
Also surviving are Steve's beautiful children Logan D. and Lilly N. Hahn, both at home; his brothers Joseph R. "Joe" Hahn of Middlebury and John D. Hahn of Wakarusa; his sister Rachel M. (Glen) Hoover of Williamsport, and a host of loving extended family (including a rather large bunch of nieces and nephews) and in-laws that he cherished dearly, church family, work buddies and friends that will miss him very much.
Steve's life will be celebrated on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Church On The Rock of Michiana, 420 CR 4 West, Elkhart, with Pastor Tony Tice officiating. Visitation will begin there at 11:00 am and burial will follow services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family with arrangements.
Steve was a fixture at Gaska Tape in Elkhart for over 20 years, serving as a forklift operator. He was also an active member of the Church On The Rock, and was oftentimes "volunteered" to help his wife Heather with her Sunday School class. Admittedly, we say this jokingly because Steve loved his Lord, Jesus, and relished every chance he could get to spread the Good News. This desire to share the Gospel spilled over into his family life as well, because Steve very meticulously saw to it that his children heard Bible stories every night before bed, and that his daughter memorized her bible verses for school and church and that he read his devotionals each night. Steve was working towards memorizing 30+ Bible verses and already could recite most of them along with chapter and verse for each one of them. He knew the importance of a solid spiritual background, and of repenting of sins and asking Jesus into your heart and he wasn't about to shortchange his family on their salvation. Lilly was recently baptized at COTR and Logan would be dedicated in the coming months. Heather would add that Steve loved to sing to his children at bedtime and Heather could usually hear the song of her husband singing Jesus Loves Me and Jesus Loves the Little Children in each one of their rooms.
Steve was an avid card player and was apparently one of the "lunch break Euchre" players at work as well as being a fairly accomplished poker player from time to time. He also loved to swim with his wife and children, and practically lived in the family's back yard pool throughout the summer. He was also a huge fan of all types of movies (his eclectic list of "timeless" movies included everything from Home Alone and Christmas Vacation to The Transporter to the Fast and the Furious) and also knew his movie trivia very well. He could spot a not-so-famous actor in a movie, tell you their name and what other movies they had played in.
Loving, caring, compassionate, devoted, fun-loving, funny, and Jesus-loving were all adjectives used to describe Steve. He dearly and deeply loved his wife and children, and loved and appreciated his siblings, his extended family and all of his friends (and if you knew Steve, he instantly considered you a friend).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.

Everything else is just sprinkles on the sundae."
