NORTH LIBERTY — Steven Edward "Steve" Cocot, 41, of North Liberty, passed away at 5:43 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend after an extended illness.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1971, in Monticello, N.Y., to Edward J. and Kathleen K. (Kahn) Cocot.
Surviving are his son, Matthew Foschino of Monticello; a brother, Brian M. Cocot of Carlisle; mother Kathleen K. "Kathy" Mann of Elkhart; his significant other, Shirley Wingert of North Liberty; and his former spouse and friend, Dianne Cocot.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward.
In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration of Steve's life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at New Life Church, 11593 McKinley Highway in Osceola. A time for fellowship will follow the services at the church. Pastor Michael A. Cramer will officiate and burial will take place at a later date at Olive Cemetery in Elkhart.
Steve was a diesel mechanic in the Michiana area for many years and was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast.
