Steve Colagrossi, 68 of Elkhart Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on September 11, 2025.

He was the son of the late Alfred O. and Anna-Jeane (Boutwell) Colagrossi. His sister, Carol McGill-Colagrossi and Brother Matt Colagrossi preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years Jean (McDonald) Colagrossi; son Michael Colagrossi (Therri); daughter, Sarah Key (Phillip); brother, Jim (Bonnie) Colagrossi; nephew, Corey (Catie) Colagrossi; nieces, Cindi Lewis and Raquel (Kevin) Rodriguez; as well as his two Australian Terriers, Neuman and Moxie.

Steve graduated from Concord High School in 1975, and then attended Indiana University, Bloomington. After graduating university, Steve began working for First National Bank of Elkhart, where he met his wife, Jeanie. He retired from banking at Lake City Bank where he spent 22 years of his career.

From an early age, Steve developed a deep love of music and he made his first guitar out of cardboard and string. This began a lifelong passion that he would take with him his entire life. Steve continued his passion for the guitar throughout his life and played in bands on the weekends and at church.

He was known for playing in rock bands such as Network, The Guitar Woodies, and Nite Shift. Steve also played guitar at the Elkhart Jazz Festival, The Concord Pops concert, Bristol Opera House, Truth in Jazz and many other musical endeavors around the Michiana area.

In 2023, Steve was inducted into the Elkhart Music Hall of Fame. Steve was a strong Christian and spoke openly about his faith. Steve enjoyed music, art, cooking, kayaking and walking his dogs, but most of all being surrounded by family and his many, many wonderful friends.
