ELKHART — Stephen C. "Steve" Jackson, 69, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, May 14, at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart following a brief illness.
He was born, in Elkhart, May 16, 1946, to the late Donald and Evelyn (Franger) Jackson.
Surviving are his sister, Susan (Steven) Pressler of Elkhart; nieces and nephews Shannon (William) Petty, Brookelyn Petty, Jason Pressler and Bailey Petty, all of Elkhart; and cousin Melody "Deedee" (Ted) Mason of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Preceding him in death were grandparents Edward (Frances) Franger and John (Winnie) Jackson.
There will be visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart. A private family burial will follow Thursday, May 19, at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Elkhart.
Although being born physically and mentally challenged, Steve graduated from Elkhart High School in 1966 and worked at Jason Industries until his retirement in 2008. Steve had many friends and never met a stranger. The family would like to thank the staff at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart for making him happy and feel at home for the past five years.
