Stephen R. Oelslager, 69, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Center for Hospice in Mishawaka. He was born on February 18, 1952, in St. Cloud, MN to the late Robert and Lois (Nelson) Oelslager.

Stephen was survived by his children, Michael (Tracy) Oelslager, Jenna Smith, and Julie (John) Somheil; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and siblings, Richard (Susan) Oelslager of Ash, NC, Daniel (Ginny) Oelslager of Pingree Grove, IL, Laurie (Kelly) Oelslager of Mankato MN, and R.J. (Ann) Oelslager of Rochest MN. He is preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Jimmy Oelslager, who passed away in 2014.

In accordance with Stephen's wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Stephen was a loving father who enjoyed spending time with his family. When Stephen was young, he was a proud Eagle Scout, a vigil honor member of the Order of the Arrow and Chief of the Blue Ox Lodge for Gamehaven Council. He was a police officer for Conrail and US marshal for 22 years and later became a truck driver before retiring. Stephen will be missed greatly by his loving family.
