Stephen D. "Steve" Sailor, 66, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Elkhart on August 17, 1957, to the late Albert L. and Eloise L. (Fruchey) Sailor.

Steve is also preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Sailor. He is survived by his brother, Robert L. "Bob" (Jenny) Sailor; sister, Debra S. Sailor; nephews; nieces; and several cousins.

In accordance with Steve's wishes, cremation was chosen. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4-6 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart.

Steve was a simple man who was a kind, gentle, and caring person. He was always thinking of others. Often, he would clean trash and debris from County Road 3 and around the Elkhart High School area. Steve enjoyed being outdoors among the pine trees near his house and loved to tend to the forest animals that lived there. In his spare time, he rode his bicycle around town and loved riding the trolley where he passed the time meeting and talking to new people. He was an avid mustang enthusiast who also collected Hot Wheels. Steve will be greatly missed by his loving family, friends, and neighbors.
