ELKHART — Stephen David "Steve" Pugliese, 85, of Elkhart, passed away from natural causes at Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Elkhart at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 7.
He was born in Elkhart on Oct. 15, 1928, to the late Stefano and Rosa (Barone) Pugliese.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Mayou, a son, Joseph Pugliese and a sister, Mary Grace Miller, all of Elkhart; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, five sisters and six brothers.
In accordance to the family's wishes no visitation or service has been scheduled and cremation will take place. Burial will follow in St. Vincent's Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
Steve served in the U.S. Army during World War II and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After returning home he worked in construction with his late brother, Jack, for many years. He was also a staunch supporter of the Elkhart Democratic Party and ran for city council several times.
