Stephen "Steve" Joseph Barella, 64, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Center For Hospice Care, Esther's House. He was born in Elkhart on January 11, 1959, to the late Stephen A. and Marian "Sue" Barella.

Steve is also preceded in death by his partner, Mary Little and brother, Scott Barella. He is survived by his children, Stormie Barella, Skye (Jason) Pereles, Cade Barella, Drew Cooper, and Dusty Cooper; honorary children, Ashley Sturm, Lorrie De Santos, and Tracy Phillips; sister, Lori Carson; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Steve was a hardworking, caring, and generous person. If he saw someone in need, he would give the shirt off of his back to help them. Steve loved all kinds of sports and in his youth, he was the star athlete of his High School in Edwardsburg, Michigan. Throughout the years he continued to watch sports and later in life he enjoyed playing golf the most. Even though it has been a few years, he used to spend a lot of time riding his Harley. Taking his kids on motorcycle rides was a highlight for them growing up. So much so that he got the Harley emblem tattooed on his arm with his kid's name in the shield. Steve was a loving father, grandfather, and uncle to many. Family meant the world to him and he will be greatly missed by them all.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial visitation will take place on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 10:30-11:30AM. A Sharing of Memories service will follow at 11:30AM.  The family would also like to invite their guests to the American Legion Post 365, 25751 US Highway 12 Edwardsburg, MI 49112 for a gathering from 1-5PM.
