IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stanley "Bruce"
Lund
December 3, 1933 – July 23, 2023
Stanley Bruce Lund was born on December 3, 1933 to Henry and Alma Lund.
His Father was a conductor for the railroad in Elkhart and his mother was a cook for one of the local schools. He attended Elkhart High where he played basketball and was also active in theatre. He was drafted into the U. S Army and worked in electronics. Later, he became a radar repairman and worked on the huge microwave towers in Japan. He was honorably discharged from the Army on March 28, 1956. After returning home from the Army, he started his own lumber company in Howe, Indiana with some of his high school buddies. After they sold the lumber company he went to work for Miles Laboratories (AKA Bayer Corp) as an electrician, then later on as a supervisor.
After retiring from Bayer, he started "The Paisley Peacock" stained window business along with his wife Nona. It was located in the old fire station on Beardsley Avenue in Elkhart. His wife Nona passed away on July 7, 2015.
He became ill in 2021 and was moved to The Laurel's assisted living facility in Goshen, Indiana where he resided until his death. He was always singing in the nursing home and he was often referred to as "Brucie, the singing senior." The nursing home workers and nurses loved him as much as he loved them.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Alma Lund, brother John Lund, sisters Jean Atwater, Dorothy Smith and Eunice Edmond and his wife Nona (the love of his life).
He is survived by brothers-in-laws Bob Smith and Butch Quick, sister-in-law Charlene McNulty, children Kimberly (Kirk) Bennett, Susan (Dan Beck) Richmond, Elizabeth (Dan) Dowell and Garry (Maria) Lund, grandchildren Derek (Jennifer) Bennett, Amber (Steve Hill) Dawson, McKenzie (Duane) Woolwine, Chelsea (Paul) Hart, Maddie and Wes Slayton, Kyle Lund and Eric Lund, great-grandchildren Jacob Bennett, Dylynn Bennett, Carter Lutrell, Hayden Hill, Grayson Woolwine, Henry Hart and Walker Slayton.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was loved by all and was truly a great Father. We will miss him terribly.
His wish was to be cremated and have his ashes mixed with his wife Nona's ashes.
We will have a "Celebration of life" to be announced at a later date.
