Obituary

Stanley Ray Eyestone of Edwardsburg, Michigan, passed away surrounded by family on August 16, 2025. Born on November 23, 1953 in Danville, Illinois to his parents Elvin and Estella Eyestone. Stan married Deneice Cox on October 19th, 1985. Stan was proceeded in death by both of his parents, and his brother, Clark.

Stan is survived by his wife Deneice; siblings Rick, Cheryl, Sheila, and Kenny; children Melissa (Ron), Randy, Amanda (Ron), Ryan (Lita), and Nathan (Caitlin); grandchildren Brandon (Whitnie), Christian (Jasmine), Ashley, Jewel, Dylan, Hannah (Sydney), Makenna (Caaden), Carson, Aurora, and Sophia; great-grandchildren Aubree, Oliver, Owen, and Everett.

Stan grew to be a man of God, devoting nearly 30 years to New Hope United Methodist Church where he volunteered in multiple areas of the children's ministry, and facilitated an adult bible study. Stan's faith also led him to volunteer with Kairos Prison Ministry, Walk to Emmaus, and became a sponsor with the AA program. Through his journey in recovery, he became a source of strength and inspiration to others with similar challenges.

As a kid, Stan enjoyed working on cars with his dad. Later on, he was able to share his knowledge of mechanics with his kids and grandkids. He was a fix-it man, not just on cars, but in many other aspects of his life and work. Stan started his own vending business, which was more than just a job since his colleagues happened to be his children and dear friends. A lifetime of memories were made and stories and laughs will go on for years to come.

Stan lived a life of simple joy. Content spending an afternoon watching old Western movies with a big bowl of popcorn. Easily pleased with a fresh bag of licorice, any flavor. Cooking banana pancakes for the grandkids after a weekend sleepover. A good meal ended with a game of euchre, where he would occasionally play without looking at his cards. He enjoyed good music, James Bond movies, a perfect bowl of chili, beagle dogs, and keeping his green bean casserole recipe a secret. In the words of Bob Seger, "Here's to the little things. The sports section, The Weather Channel, A good battery."

If you knew Stan for more than a few minutes, you knew his unwavering love and loyalty to Notre Dame football. Stan could recite the entire roster for any given season without hesitation, and could most likely tell you everyone who won the Heisman Trophy in the last 50 years. Forevermore he has the best seat in the house to cheer on the Irish.
