Nov. 11, 1908 - March 25, 2009

SOUTH BEND -- Sophie Charlotte Guthrie, 100, of South Bend, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday (March 25, 2009) in The Sanctuary at Holy Cross.

She was born Nov. 11, 1908, in Chicago to Joseph and Mary Cuchra. On Aug. 21, 1938, she married Leo F. Guthrie in Chicago.

He preceded her in death along with five siblings, Jim and John Cuchra, Julia Czajka, Helen Supej and Ceil Remack.

Mrs. Guthrie's daughter, Eleanore (Kenneth) Koppin of Granger, survives, along with two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.

A homemaker, Mrs. Guthrie was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, South Bend. She retired from Sears Roebuck & Co., Chicago.

Friends may call for a half hour prior to the 10 a.m. Saturday Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 7210 W. 57th St., Summit Argo, Ill. The Rev. John Chrzan will officiate. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Ill.
