Shirley C. Maxson, 91, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Brickyard Healthcare. She was born in Elkhart, IN on July 2, 1935, to the late Delbert and Rhea (Eddy) Maxson.

Shirley was also preceded in death by her brothers, William, Bob, Jim, Delbert, Henry and her twin sister, Sheila Redding. She is survived by her two nephews, Ricky Maxson and Timothy Redding as well as her close friend, Mary O’Connor.

Shirley was a kind and independent woman who mostly kept to herself. She worked for several local paint shops over the years. Shirley loved animals, especially her dogs Shadow and Shayna. One of her favorite pastimes was drawing; she was a very talented artist. She also enjoyed listening to country music.

In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, she will be laid to rest with her twin sister, Sheila, at Rice Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County, 54687 County Road 19, Bristol, IN 46507.
