ELKHART -- Sherrie Lynn Hathaway, 48, of Elkhart, passed away in her home Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, after a sudden illness.
She was born Nov. 26, 1962, in Twenty Nine Palms, Calif., to Gerald and Betty (Kirkland) McGath.
She is survived by two daughters, Alyssa Hathaway of Elkhart and Kim Hathaway of Bristol; brother Mike (Nina) McGath of Janesville, Wis.; sister Terrrie Osborne of Elkhart; her father, Gerald "Jerry" McGath of Tupelo, Miss.; and her stepfather, Archibald "Archie" Harchuck of Elkhart.
Preceding Sherrie in death was her mother, Betty Kirkland McGath Harchuck.
No services have been scheduled. In accordance to family wishes, Sherrie has been cremated. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.
Sherrie worked for several area RV manufacturers over the years and had a genuine love for children. She would never pass up a chance to help a child read a story or to try to brighten their day.
