Sheila Mary Dibley, 90, residing in Elkhart, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Center for Hospice Care, Esther House, surrounded by her loving family. Sheila was born on October 4, 1932 in Watford, Hertfordshire, England to the late George Patrick and Edith Gwendolyn (Dancaster) Dibley. In addition to her parents, Brother and sister in law Michael and Josephine Dibley and sister and brother in law Robert and Eileen Stevens, preceded her in death.

Sheila is survived by numerous Nieces, Nephews, great nieces and nephews and many many friends.

Sheila came to the United States when she was 15 years old, while attending St. Joan of Arc Convent School in England. She graduated in 1952 from Elkhart High School.

Sheila retired from the South Bend Medical Foundation, where she worked as a laboratory technician. She also worked at Elkhart General Hospital as a nurse's aide. Sheila was a founding member in 1950 of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where she served as a minister to the sick and sacristan.

She enjoyed traveling, her beautiful flower beds, gardening and was an expert seamstress. She loved horses and all animals, and was a longtime volunteer at Loveway, which provides equine assisted services to individuals with special needs. She will be missed by her Pomeranian "Zoie"

Visitation for Sheila will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2023 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. The evening will conclude with a parish rosary. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., with 1 hour of visitation prior on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main St. Rev. Logan Parrish will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Sheila's family kindly suggest memorial donations in her name to Loveway, Inc. or the Humane Society of Elkhart Co.
