Obituary
ELKHART — Shawnie K. Nickoson, 50, of Elkhart, passed away following complications from an asthma condition at Elkhart General Hospital at 5:04 a.m. Friday, June 10.
She was born, in Elkhart, March 8, 1966, to the late Floyd and Frances (Hoke) Zimmerman.
Surviving are her daughters, Nicole Nickoson and Renita Lindsey; brothers Stephen (Phyllis) and Danny (Paula) Zimmerman; sister Rita Miller; grandchildren Aliyah, Donovan and Kaitlin Lindsey and Bella and Dreama Byrd; and former spouse Jack Nickoson.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. No immediate services have been planned at this time.
Shawnie worked for the Elkhart Community School system for many years, but her entrepreneurial ambitions allowed her to own and operate several restaurants and a cleaning service over the years as well. She always enjoyed caring for her family and friends.
