ELKHART — Shawn L. Carroll Sr., 40, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital from natural causes at 7:28 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012.
He was born Jan. 5, 1972, in Flint, Mich. to Melbourne and Linda (Pressley) Carroll, and married Carlor Y. Jackson on May 24, 2003, in Elkhart.
Carlor survives at home, along with a son, Shawn, Jr. Also surviving are his daughter, Olivia Cooper, and stepdaughters, Ieasha Jackson and Sharmayne Jones, all of Elkhart; brothers Donyale (Brenda) Carroll of Flint and Priest Carroll of St. Louis, Mich.; his father, Melbourne (Em-Mett) Carroll of Fort Wayne; his mother, Linda D. Simbler of Flint; grandparents Norma Pressley and Hortense Ruby Carroll, both of Flint; aunt Janet (Billy) Marshall; special cousins Blanton (Jerry) Beathea, William Beathea and Michael Williams; his best friend Christopher Bryson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart. No formal services have been scheduled and Shawn will be cremated following the gathering.
Shawn was employed at ACCOA Aluminum Products of Elkhart for many years. Donations may be given to the family in Shawn's memory in the name of his wife, Carlor. On-line condolences can reach the family at www.billingsfuneralhome.com.
