Obituary

Shavone Renee Dunbar, 41, of Elkhart and formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in Edwardsburg, MI. She was born on October 13, 1982, in Chicago, IL, to the late Louis Williams and Helen Dunbar, who survives.

Shavone is survived by her loving children, Tatiana Jackson, Jeremiah Jackson, Christian Williams, Crystal Williams, Chrishawna Williams, Justice Williams, and Destiny Williams, all of Elkhart; mother, Helen Dunbar of Elkhart; father figure, James Brown; siblings, Kenyatta Banks of Universal City, TX, Joy Dunbar of Chicago, IL, Robert Walton of Dansville, IL, and Shondell Hill of MN; many nieces and nephews; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.

In addition to her father, Shavone was preceded in death by her brother, Darron Walton.

Services for Shavone will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at AGAPE Missionary Baptist Church, 248 W Wolf Ave, Elkhart, IN 46516, with visitation from 11 am to 12 pm and a homegoing service beginning at 12 pm. Pastor Dannell Brown will officiate. Per the family's wishes, cremation will follow services. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is assisting the family with arrangements.

Shavone held several jobs throughout her life, most notably being a home healthcare worker and a hotel services representative. She was known to dive into any kind of work, enjoying being able to dabble in a bit of everything as she made her way through life learning new skills each day.

In her spare time, Shavone adored spending time with her family, especially her children whom she loved so very much. She could also be found cooking up a delicious meal in the kitchen, singing and dancing, coloring and drawing, or simply sharing a laugh with her loved ones.

Shavone will best be remembered as a loving, caring, and forgiving soul who touched the lives of many. She had a sweet personality and was always upfront and welcoming to those she met. Most importantly, Shavone had a laugh and smile that lit up the room and brought her family so much joy and happiness. She, along with all the love she shared, will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
