Obituary

ELKHART — Sharon Ann Stout, 70, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at 10:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Center for Hospice Care following an extended illness.

She was born Sept. 12, 1946, in Goshen, to the late Floyd and Elizabeth (Lee) Kleinfeldt Troyer, and went on to marry Steven C. Stout on July 7, 1984, at Heaton Lake in Elkhart.

He survives at home.

Also surviving are sons Fred Betts of Meadville, Pa. and Arden (Tonya) Betts of Elkhart; brother David (Sue) Kleinfeldt of Boise, Idaho; stepsiblings Gwen (Bud) Frye and Kent Troyer; several grand and great-grandchildren; and a following of special friends who have given of themselves during Sharon's illness.

A stepbrother, Dennis Troyer, preceded her in death.

Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart will host Sharon's life celebration with visitation beginning one hour prior to the 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, funeral.

Burial will follow in Adamsville Cemetery, Adamsville, Mich.

Sharon had a special bond with the elderly and committed most of her adult life to their care and well-being by working at several area nursing facilities, only recently retiring because of her health.

She enjoyed all types of arts and crafts projects, but most of her talent went into designing flower arrangements, making pillows and blankets, and crafting jewelry. She also had a collection of "doll babies" of which she was particularly fond.

Memorial donations may be given in her memory to the St. Jude's Children's Research Center in Memphis, Tenn. or Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis.
