ELKHART -- Sharon Kay Kidder, 63, of Elkhart, died unexpectedly in the emergency room of Elkhart General Hospital at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, after a sudden illness.

She was born March 18, 1947, in Elkhart to William and Jean (McGary) Filbert. On June 25, 1966, she married Donald A. Kidder in Elkhart. He survives.

Also surviving are son Shawn E. Kidder and daughter Michelle L. (Jimmy) Hall, both of Elkhart; brother Rick A. Filbert and her mother, Jean Filbert, both of Dunlap; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Her father, William, preceded her in death.

A celebration of Sharon's life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart. A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mausoleum Chapel at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, where entombment will follow services. Pastor David Kidder, Sharon's brother-in-law, will officiate.

She was a homemaker and a member of Goshen DAV Auxiliary, Goshen VFW, Bristol American Legion, Elkhart Eagles and Elkhart Ladies of the Moose.
