Obituary

Sharon Lynn Howey, 80, of Elkhart, passed away after a lengthy battle with Cancer on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Center for Hospice Care, Esther's House.

Sharon was born on October 2, 1945 in Standish, MI to the late, Lyle and Onalea (Kitchen) Maybouer.

Sharon is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Otis and her partner in life, Ernie Krause.

Sharon is survived by her son, Richard E. Howey of Elkhart; grandsons, Ricky and Zack Howey, both of Bristol; brother, Robert Maybouer of Clarkston, MI; sisters, Janet Woods of Elkhart and Barbara Maybouer of Saginaw, MI; nephews, Tim (Angie) Woods of New Paris; Todd (Michelle) Woods of Elkhart, Matt (Sara) Maybouer of Pinehurst, NC and Marissa (Scott) Hunter of Chapel Hill, NC and many great nieces and nephews.

Sharon was a dedicated member of the VFW 88 on Bristol Street and the DAV Ladies Auxiliary. She also devoted many years as a volunteer at Shepherd's Cove in Elkhart.

Sharon had a passion for collecting antiques and porcelain dolls, and she enjoyed visiting the casino, playing Bingo, and attending local concerts.

Above all, Sharon cherished her family. Though strong-willed, she led with a heart full of love.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of the Center for Hospice, Esther's House, for the compassionate care and support provided during a difficult time.

A Funeral Service for Sharon will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating.

Visitation with the family will be for 1 hour prior to the start of the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.

Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family.
