She was born March 30, 1949, to Leonard and Delores (Eggleston) Welch.

Ms. Chapman is survived by one daughter, Kelly J. Welch of Elkhart; one son, Brad C. Welch of Elkhart; three grandchildren; and two brothers, George (Linda) Welch of Elkhart and David Welch of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sandy; and a former spouse, Francis "Fritz" Kraus.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at a later date.

Ms. Chapman worked for United Shade Co., Elkhart, for more than 15 years until her health required her to retire. When she wasn't collecting angel figurines, spending time with her family or reading, she could be found in front of the TV watching "Survivor," game shows and NASCAR, where she rooted for whoever was in the lead. She was known for her hearty laugh and finding humor in just about everything. Her friends and family dubbed her "Queen of the Harpies" because she harped on anything and everything.
