Obituary

Seth S. Gove, 50, of Goshen, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 9, 2026, at his home where he was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 7, 1975, in Elkhart to the late Vernon E. Gove Jr. and Penny (Walker) Hershberger who survives him.

Seth is also survived by his life partner and love of 10 years (wife in Christ), Dorbi Sherwood; stepfather (Dad), Glen E. Hershberger II; stepsister, Heather (Sheldon) Lanham; step nephew, Matthew Farley; siblings, Kristy (Laramy) Jacobs, Kary (Austin) Howell, and Vernon E. Gove III; his aunts, uncles, many cousins, and friends; and “Odin” his and Dorbi’s beloved cat. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mildred L. and Paul Walker Jr.; bonus step grandfather, Uncle Bob; step grandparents, Glen E. and Evelyn R. Hershberger; and paternal grandparents Vern E. and Helen Gove Sr.

Seth was a hard-working man and was greatly loved and respected by many. He worked at Elkhart Products for several years. Seth had quite a sense of humor. He loved to do impressions. It was hard to stay mad at him because he could make any tense situation dissipate and he could even make you laugh through your tears. When he was younger, he played football and track in junior high school as well as participated in a couple of local bowling leagues. In Seth’s spare time, he enjoyed watching pro and college football and cheering on Notre Dame, his favorite team. His favorite movie of all time was Forrest Gump with Forrest and Lieutenant Dan being his favorite characters. Seth Gove will be sorely and dearly missed by his loving family.

Cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. A private family graveside service will take place at Rice Cemetery where he will be laid to rest in the cremation towers. Donations in Seth’s memory may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

The family would like to thank the care teams of the ICU and the 6th floor Nursing staff and Palliative Care of Elkhart General Hospital. They would also like to thank the Hospice Nurses for their care and kindness of Seth in his final days. The family gives a special thank you to Billings Funeral Home for helping them during this difficult time.
