Scott Stanton Thomas, 71, recently of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at South Bend Medical Center.
Scott was born on January 3, 1950 in Fort Myer, VA to Mark Thomas and Alys (Barnes) Thomas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Alys and recently brother, Jeffrey Thomas on May 11, 2021.
Scott is survived by his father, Mark Thomas, stepmother, Judith Thomas; children, Christopher Thomas, Sean Thomas and Heather Thomas; brothers David Thomas, Trevor Thomas and sister Elizabeth Thomas; sister-in-law, Kathryn Thomas; 6 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Scott spent the majority of his professional career in retail services. He was a sponsor in Alcoholics Anonymous. He received his 35-year sobriety pin in 2020. Scott was also a drug abuse counselor for several years.
He was most proud of his volunteer work with the Euless Fire and Police Departments. He was a 2009 graduate of the Citizens Fire & Police Academy in Euless Texas. He was awarded the volunteer of the year in 2010.
Scott coached Little League in his early years. In his free time, Scott enjoyed watching all sports. He was a huge Notre Dame Football fan "Go Irish" and avid Texas Rangers and Washington Redskins fan.
Scott was a people person and his outgoing personality resonated with everyone he came in contact with.
Per the family's request, there will be no visitation or services at this time. Scott will be cremated. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart IN is assisting the family.
