Sarah “Sandy” Belle Wilson, 81, of Elkhart, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, January 16, 2026 at her home.
Sarah was born on July 16, 1944 in Washington, D.C. to the late James Dunham and Daisy (Wood) Dunham.
She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Richard D. Barrett in 2000.
Sarah is survived by her sons, Mark R. (Annette) Barrett and Scott (Chantelle) Barrett; grandchildren, Mark (Emily) Turner, Preston Tobolski, Christopher Tobolski, Sarah Villa, Bethany Tobolski, Natalie Fields and Jake Barrett; great grandchildren, Leo Christian, Mikayla and Dominic and many friends.
Sarah was a devoted member of Nappanee Missionary Church, where she faithfully served and lived out her strong Christian faith through service and fellowship. She dedicated 45 years of her professional life as a laboratory assistant at Bayer in Elkhart, retiring in 2009. Her commitment and work ethic earned her numerous awards and distinctions over the course of her career.
Sarah had a deep love for conversation and connection. She was a true social conversationalist who delighted in meaningful discussions, shared meals, and time spent with friends especially over a scoop of ice cream. She especially enjoyed being on the water in South Haven and St. Joseph, Michigan, where she found both joy and peace. Sarah was always rooted in love and sincerity. Above all, Sarah’s greatest pride was her family, whom she raised with care and devotion, and she was known as a loyal, dependable friend to many.
Friends may visit with the Sarah’s family on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.
A Celebration of Sarah’s Life will immediately follow at 4:00pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
