ELKHART -- Sarah V. Huster, 89, of Elkhart, died at 4:35 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 1, 2009) in Golden Living Center.


She was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Topeka to Simon S. and Mary (Steury) Graber. She married Walter C. Huster on May 9, 1941, in Elkhart. He died Aug. 12, 1988, in Kalamazoo, Mich.


Mrs. Huster is survived by two daughters, Jeanne (Pastor James) Young and Annie (Ron) Douglas, both of Elkhart; one son, Ron (Maribeth) Huster of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Verna (Simon) Zook of Goshen, Martha (Eli) Beachy of Franklin, Ky., and Barbara (John) Mast and Betty (Lloyd) Hochstetler, both of Nappanee; and one brother, Joel Graber of Goshen.


She was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley DeRoeck; one great-grandson, Justin Chrisman; one sister, Josephine Miller; and two brothers, Victor and Marlon Graber.


Mrs. Huster worked at Gemeinhardt Co. for almost 25 years, corking and padding musical instruments. She was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church, Elkhart, and loved to crochet, bake, read and garden. She was a caregiver.


Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to Saturday's 11 a.m. funeral service at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 4206 E. Bristol St., Elkhart. Pastor Jim Fookes will officiate. A luncheon will follow the service. A graveside service and burial will be in Marcellus (Mich.) Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday.
