Sanit Walter,74, of Elkhart, died at 1:27 am Monday, October 20, 2025 in her home, succumbing to a brave 3-year battle with Cancer.

Sanit was born in Thailand on December 5, 1950 to her parents Wan and Emay Pansri. She married her present husband, Bob Walter, on September 12, 1986.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters in Thailand.

Mrs. Walter is survived by her husband of 39 years, Robert Walter of Elkhart, two children by her first marriage, her son, Robert and her daughter, Wendy; brother Suwit Pansri; two sisters, Lowee and Nongluck of Thailand; and close niece, Ploy Widham of Fargo, ND; and another host of adoring nieces and nephews.

Sanit attended primary school in Thailand and finished her formal education at Elkhart Memorial High School under the CETA program.

Sanit married an American serviceman in Thailand on February 15, 1969; immigrated to the U.S. in 1972 and at the age of 22 acquired American citizenship in Indiana on May 1, 1979.

Sanit was a nurse's aide at Americana Nursing Home for several years. She was most recently employed in the kitchen at Elkhart General Hospital. Sanit was a hard worker, even earning her "Employee of the Month".

Sanit was an avid gardener and lovingly cared for her tropical plants and flowers. She was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and loved our pack of Bichons.

A good Christian woman, Sanit attended First Baptist Church on Prairie Street for several years. Later, she went on to study the Bible with the Jehovah's Witnesses for 20 years and attended the local Kingdom Hall for the rest of her life.

She will be missed by all who knew her.  R.I.P.

Per the family's request, Sanit will be cremated. There will be no formal services at this time.
