ELKHART — Sandra "Fruit Loop" Denise Williams, 64, of Elkhart, died peacefully Friday morning, Oct. 21, at Kindred Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 21, 1952, in Memphis, Tenn., to Ruby Williams.
Sandra is survived by one brother, Stanley (Christie) McCray; two grandsons, Brent Ayers of Indianapolis and Keshaune Rucker of Michigan; two granddaughters, Harmony Williams of Elkhart and Aalaigh Williams of Warm Springs, Ark.; three nieces, Nicole (Bryan) Reed of Orlando, Fla., Teanna McCray of Fort Wayne and Kashten McCray of Elkhart; four nephews, Phillip McCray of Elkhart, Eric McCray of Warsaw, Clinton McCray of Indianapolis and Che' Williams of Atlanta, Ga.
She also leaves to cherish her memory two very dear friends, Mable Davis of Elkhart and Hattie Hurd of Nashville, Tenn., as well as a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne E. Williams; mother Ruby (Williams) Anderson; brother Frank (Shamin) Williams; and stepfather Lovell Anderson.
Sandra was a 1971 graduate of Elkhart High School and later worked for more than 24 years at Fountain View Nursing Home in Elkhart as a certified nurse assistant until her health declined.
She was a member of V.F.W. Post 9944 Ladies Auxiliary.
Sandra enjoyed cooking, playing cards and caring for others.
She dearly loved her family and friends, but especially enjoyed the time spent with grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their support and care.
A memorial celebration of Sandra's life will be at noon Friday, Oct. 28, at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 802 W. Garfield Ave., Elkhart. Pastor Danny Brown will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Diabetes Association or the donor's choice.
