Mrs. Sandra L. Ellsworth, 70, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019 at 10:36 pm. She was born May 16, 1949 in Ames, WV to the late Joe and Betty (Gilkerson) Stokley; but she was raised by the late Clyde Bowe whom she always considered as her father. On Jan. 28, 1967, she married Orval Ellsworth, Jr. in Elkhart. He survives at home after 52 wonderful years together.

Survivors include her children Sandra Wenzel, Beverly Ellsworth, Candace Jerome, Crystal Ellsworth and Orval Ellsworth, III; brother Steven Bowe; sisters Cindy Gletty, Barb Lacefield and Patty Hershberger, 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a host of loving family, friends and neighbors who saw Sandy as a grandma to just about everyone. Preceding her in death is a sister, Teresa Perry, and a grandson, Dennis Ellsworth.

Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services will host Sandy's Celebration of Life services on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 at 12:00 noon, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Pastor Jeremy Sarber will officiate and cremation will follow services.

Sandy did many things in her life but nothing as rewarding as riding along with her OTR truck driving spouse Orval. She loved sitting up in the cab with him and would often even ride along with her grandchildren as well as they grew into the trade themselves. She was the neighborhood mom and grandma over the years as she always welcomed a full household and enjoyed the privileges that went along with being the neighborhood caregiver. She loved her children and grandchildren to the moon and back, and enjoyed crochetting, especially blankets for all of the grandchildren, and rooting for her favorite Fighting Irish, Da Bears and #88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
