ELKHART — Sandra L. "Sandy" Mabie, 67, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, April 6, at Elkhart Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born Jan. 21, 1949, in Garden City, Mich., to Andrew J. and Ruby L. (Swoveland) Fry.
She married Thomas L. Mabie Sr. on Nov. 7, 1995, in Elkhart.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas L. Mabie Sr.; children William McDonald of Michigan City, Regina (Harry) Mullins-Browning of Goshen, Thomas L. Mabie Jr. of Mishawaka and Maryalice (John) Bland of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, with two more expected soon; and a sister, Phyllis Miller of LaGrange.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Ginger Sullivan Mabie, brothers Wayne Swoveland and Lowell Fry, and sister Donna Lou Fry.
Sandy was the former owner/operator of the Country Connection for many years. She also worked at MAP of Easton in Granger. She was a life member of DAV Post 19. She loved to go to the casino and play computer games.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Billings Funeral Home, where services celebrating Sandy's life will begin at noon Saturday, April 9, with visitation for one hour prior also at the funeral home. Chaplin Ed Wilsberg with Center for Hospice Care will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery, with a meal to follow at DAV Post 19. All are invited.
