GOSHEN — Sandra Sue Atkinson, 68, passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at Elkhart General Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born July 16, 1949 in Bourbon Co., Kentucky to J. L.  and Gladys (Harper) Barbee.  Surviving is a son, Michael (Carrie) Atkinson, granddaughter, Chloe Atkinson; mother, Gladys Barbee; siblings, Donnie (Shirley) Barbee, Judy Tidwell, Penny Matlock, Candy (Kim) Butt and Shirley Myers; and her longtime companion James Murphy. Her father J.L. Barbee, 2 brothers, J.C. Barbee and Darrell Barbee preceded her in death. Sandra was co-owner of Michael's Discount Variety Store in Elkhart for many years and formerly worked at the El Toro Restaurant. She loved animals, playing bingo and going to the casino.  Private family services will be held after the beginning of the year.  Cremation arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home. Elkhart.
