ELKHART — Samuel B. "Ben" Lieurance Sr., 90, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Atria Eastlake Terrace.
He was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Huntington to Samuel and Sylvia (Jones) Lieurance.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel B. "Ben" Lieurance Jr. of Elkhart and Steve A. (Cheryl) Lieurance of Edwardsburg, Mich.; daughter Sandra K. "Sandy" (Joe) Janecke of Mason, Mich.; two stepsons, Nick (Diane) Lieurance of Greenville, Ohio, and Mike Lieurance of Dayton, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Lieurance.
Ben served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Southwest Pacific Area from January 1944 until March 1945. He later worked more than 45 years in the auto body repair business as a technician. Ben enjoyed gardening, restoring treasure chests and attending auctions and flea markets.
In accordance to Ben's wishes, cremation has taken place at Altera Cremation Services. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Carlton Cemetery. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the USMC Funeral Honor Guard and the DAV Chapter 19.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
