ELKHART -- Ruth M. Trotter, 89, of Elkhart, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 29, 2009) in Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.
She was born June 19, 1920, in Elkhart to Paul and Margaret (Bloomer) Grush. She married Walter Rae Trotter on Oct. 15, 1939, in Jimtown. He died June 11, 1969.
Survivors include two sons, Paul R. (Pam) Trotter of Sacramento, Calif. and Sandy (Becky) Trotter of Elkhart; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Gottschalk, Mary Steep and Virginia Pendill; and one grandson.
Mrs. Trotter worked as a seamstress for many years. She was also a member of the DAV Chapter 19 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 143 Ladies Auxiliary in Bristol.
She enjoyed shopping, camping, fishing and spending time with her family.
Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Chaplain Carolyn Haas, of American Legion Post 143 Ladies Auxiliary will officiate.
