ELKHART — Ruth F. Stuart, 91, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Vista Park following an extended illness.

She was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Pearson, Georgia, to the late Jackson Seaborn Lastinger and Anna Gertrude Wall Lastinger.

She was the Elkhart Township assessor, a career politician for more than 20 years in Elkhart and was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Carlyle Stuart.

Survivors include nephews Sammy Lastinger and Danny Lastinger; nieces Jackie Wilson, Jan Lastinger, Tommie Dukes and Trudy Carlisle; and special cousin Carlie Lastinger.

Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 30, in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.

Sims Funeral Home and Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, are in charge of arrangements.
