Ruth Sue Spesshardt, 88, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at the home she lived in for over 60 years.

Ruth was born on December 30, 1937 in Mishawaka, IN to the late, Albert and Gladys (Hook) Quier.

She is preceded in death by her daughters, Vickie Sue Spesshardt in 1958 and Pammy Jo Spesshardt-Kehoe in 2004; siblings, Alice, Betty, Doris, Lorraine, Sonny, Bob, Sally and Jane.

Ruth is survived by her children, Scott A. (Carol) Spesshardt of Hamilton, OH and Jennie Lynch (Robert Shelton); brother-in-law, Dale (Amy) Kehoe of Elkhart; grandchildren, Adriene (Shannon), Trevor, Lizzy, Zach and Caleb; great grandchildren, Mclane (Harley), Tavin, Declan and Leena Ann; great great granddaughter, Annabeth.

Ruth graduated from Elkhart High School and went on to work as an administrative assistant in the medical field.

Ruth had a deep love for wildlife and enjoyed spending time working in her yard and landscaping. She was a cancer survivor who remained strong throughout her journey.

Above all, Ruth cherished her family and was always there to support and care for those she loved.

Although she lived a quiet and private life, her many animal friends would certainly tell you otherwise. Ruth’s love for animals was a special part of who she was and brought her great joy throughout her life.

There will be no services at this time. Per Ruth’s wishes, she will be cremated.
