Ruth Anne Johnson, 64, of Edwardsburg, Michigan, died at her home on May 19, 2019 after a ten-month battle with lung cancer. She was born to the late Robert and Marilyn Spencer of Elkhart, Indiana on April 17, 1955. They preceded her in death, as did her brother, Gary Spencer and his wife Valerie. She is survived by a sister, Jan (Mike) Osborn and brother, Mike Spencer.

Ruth had a Bachelor of Science degree in Public and Environmental Affairs and a minor in Criminal Justice from Indiana University. She spent 20 years as a social worker and another 20 years in the credit card and banking industry before her retirement.

Ruth was married to John Wiswell, originally of Elkhart, for 15 years. They were residing in Lake City, Tennessee when he died suddenly in 2005. She moved to Edwardsburg in 2007 and in 2008, married Dan E. Johnson, who preceded her in death in 2014.

Ruth's wishes were that she be cremated and that there be no funeral services. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of interment at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart, Indiana.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date at the Edwardsburg Conservation Club, where Ruth volunteered many hours of service.
